Dynamic Marketing (DMA)The war against boiler room activity took another turn when it was discovered that some suspected boiler rooms were trying to 'pre-sell' their stocks by setting up a 'call centre', which was ostensibly carrying out research into stock holder preferences. The purpose of this is to try and get around the problem in the UK, whereby cold calling to try and involve people in transactions of this nature is illegal. By gaining permission from you to speak to the boiler room, the call centre is trying to find a loophole around this illegality. The call centre discovered trying this in this instance, called themselves Dynamic Marketing (DMA), and purported to be based in Zurich. The authenticity of this fact has not been verified, but the likelihood of it being true is remote. DMA claimed to be a call centre for 'International Financial Institutions'. When pressed for simple corroborative details such as a name and a telephone number, the caller was reluctant to comply At the end of the call, DMA will confirm that you 'fit the bill' for a further call from an 'International Financial Institution'. In once case, this was to a firm calling themselves Milton Dewar Asset Management, whom are the subject of another article. There is an active thread on Dynamic Marketing at the Boiler Rooms UK site. |
